DWA: Driving While Aspie Part Two

My friend's funeral was the other day and afterwards several of us decided to go out for dinner (supper, evening meal--for those who call dinner the day time meal). We hadn't seen each other in quite some time and we wanted to catch up.

This necessitated a train of three cars--and I was the last one. As I mentioned in my previous blog about driving, I am the kind of person who gets into the correct lane 20 miles before necessary, in part because I have memorized the lane patterns for commonly-used routes and also because I hate changing lanes at the last moment.

But my friend who was the leader is the kind of person who changes lanes at the last possible moment.

For awhile, I went along with it, but then I started getting frustrated, so I put myself in the correct lane (in one case only yards ahead of time, not miles) and left space in front so the other two could pull over when they were ready to.

But the whole experience really brought to mind how I cope in the world and how hard it is for me when my coping pattern doesn't work.
